Autumn Leaves

A fleeting spark

Ember to flame

You left me charred

I’ve you to blame

/

That free form fall

That jazz horns frame

Just like the autumn leaves.

/

But on the sunset coast

Where palm trees sway

The only things that fall

Are sun and waves,

/

And the sunset doesn’t make a splash

As day fades

Just like the autumn leaves.

A Remark You Made

A remark you made

Is coming back to me again

Sometimes the thing you said

Beckons

/

And some friends

They leave a piece of them

With us

Along the way that stays

Even still

/

And even still, the window

That o’er the sill the wind blows

We see a kite aloft

Afar held tight

/

A remark you made

Is coming back to me again

Sometimes the thing you said

Reminds me of a long lost friend

/

And a remark she made

Is coming back to me again

Sometimes the thing she said

Reminds me of a long lost friend

/

And a remark he made

Is coming back to me again

Sometimes the thing he said

Reminds me of a long lost friend

/

And a remark was made.
